UNWE Is The Host of The ReferNet Annual Regional Meeting
At the Large Conference Hall of UNWE has begun its work the ReferNet Annual Regional Meeting of the countries in South and Central Europe that is held for the first time in our country. At the two-day forum that also marked the 10th Anniversary of the ReferNet establishment attended specialists from the member states, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, syndicates, the non-governmental sector.
We are glad we can place at disposal our university facilities for conduction of this useful meeting, outlined Prof. Veselka Pavlova, Vice-Rector of UNWE who greeted the participants in the forum on the behalf of Prof. Statty Stattev, Rector of the University. UNWE occupies the 13th place in Europe and the 31st place in the world among the business universities, underlined Prof. Pavlova introducing the host of the international event. She detailed the importance and the role of continuing education by the activity of the Institute for Post-Graduate Qualification to the UNWE and its Director Assoc. Prof. Martcho Markov who was also among the participants in the forum.
UNWE is among the most respected universities, underlined also Deyan Poushkarov, Chairman of the National Agency for Professional Education and Training. In his exposition he outlined the key elements of professional educational policies related to the legislative basis, expansion of the access to educational services, etc. Poushkarov outlined the national map of professional education by its 430 professional gymnasiums and various centers for professional education and training of youths and adults. The key priority now is the implementation of the European set of instruments in the professional education and training, underlined Deyan Poushkarov as he also said that the quality of professional education is the intersection of the needs and interests of the individual, society, educational and training institutions, employers, syndicates.

Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality extended a greeting to the participants in the Annual Meeting on the behalf of Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia and underlined the importance of the event that is held for the first time in our country. Sylvie Bousquet, ReferNet coordinator, examined the ReferNet principle of work based upon the Agreements for Partnership and Collaboration signed between the member-states of ReferNet. Pirkko Pyorala, Policy officer at the Directorate General for Education and Culture to the European Commission specified that the purpose of the meeting is the demand of information and coordination in the regional sector of member-states of ReferNet.
ReferNet is a common European network for exchange of experience and expertise in the field of professional education and training and all the member-states of EU participate in it. The ReferNet is administrated by the European Center for The Continuing Education Development (Executive Agency of The European Commission) and it provides information for the national policies in this field.
In our country the activities related to the ReferNet are managed by the National Agency for Professional Education and Training where the social partners, academic circles and non-governmental sector are represented.
