Students from the Law Faculty Visited the European Parliament

Students from the Law Faculty were on a three-day visit to Brussels at the invitation of Tsvetelina Penkova, European Parliament Member, and by the initiative of Zornitsa Dimitrova, PhD student in Invention, Copyright and Patent Law at the Law Faculty, Scientific Advisor Assoc. Zhivko Draganov.

The students met with experts who had worked on the creation of Directive /EU/ 2019/790 of the European Parliament and the Council of 17 April 2019 on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market and amending Directives 96/9/ EC and 2001/29/ EC which should be transposed into Bulgarian legislation till 7 June 2021 in order to discuss the reasons and policies for their final adoption.

After the discussion on copyright, the students met with the European deputy Tsvetelina Penkova who spoke to them about the competencies of the Parliament members and work of Parliamentary Committees. She explained to students how the work of the European Parliament affects the national legislation, what are the stages of the EU legislative process, etc.
