International Scientific Conference on the Economic Challenges: Development, Welfare, Integration

The International Scientific Conference on the Economic Challenges: Development, Welfare, Integration organized jointly by the UNWE Economics Department and Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia is held for a fourth consecutive year. Its objective is to examine the most important economic issues as well as to enrich the scientific analyses. These were the words of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vera Pirimova at the opening of the three days Forum devoted to the 70^th Anniversary of the Economics Department. She expressed confidence in the fruitful exchange of ideas and conviction that solutions of discussed topics would be found.

We should be proud that the partnership between the UNWE and University of Sofia has developed so fast creating favourable environment for interaction between both institutions, outlined Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev. He emphasized that the Forum had turned into a tradition and its following edition would be devoted to the 100^th Anniversary of UNWE. This cooperation should continue to enrich and expand. Young scientists, researchers and institutions as the Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAS), economic and technical universities should be attracted and the Conference should become an authoritative forum of Bulgarian economic science. Welcome to the participants in the Conference. I accept their presence as respect to the Economics Department, declared Prof. Stattev.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eliza Stefanova greeted the Economics Department on behalf of the Rector of University of Sofia Prof. D.Sc.(Phil.) Atanas Gerdzhikov and expressed contentment with the organization of the Conference. According to her it is a proof that the academic community is one inseparable entity. She outlined that the University of Sofia had taught by the good practice of UNWE to organize such kind of forums and supported the idea of Prof. Stattev for attracting young people as participants who could give new ideas for tackling the modern economic challenges.

Seventy - as the Anniversary of the Department - was the number of scientific reports by researchers from Bulgaria, Serbia, Germany, Belgium, China and India that were presented during the Conference divided in seven thematic sections and discussion session for Doctoral students. They will be issued in an electronic collection.
