Meeting-Discussion with Evgeny Stoyanov, Deputy Minister of Justice

The new Act of corruption counteraction and taking away the illegally acquired property was discussed by students from the Law Faculty during a meeting-discussion with Evgeny Stoyanov, Deputy Minister of Justice.

The purpose of the meeting is to introduce you the new Law and to help you form your own point of view, pointed out Assoc. Prof. D.Sc. (Law) Zhivko Draganov, Dean of the Law Faculty (in the picture below).

According to Evgeny Stoyanov the corruption finds expression in a sense of injustice in the society, ineffectiveness of institutions, failure of civil trust in them, etc.

Undoubtedly the corruption counteraction should be more effective. The change can become real immediately after changing the institutional architecture of public authorities committed to fight against it. The realization of the change is the new Act of corruption counteraction and taking away the illegally acquired property, pointed out Stoyanov and examined the leading principle in the preparation of the Law – to investigate the money and property.        

Guest at the meeting-discussion was also Prof. D.Sc.(Law) Dimitar Radev from the Public Legal Studies Department who commented whether the Commission on corruption counteraction and taking away the illegally acquired property should have investigating functions and who should appoint its Chairperson (in the picture below).
