Three days Conference on Applied Business and Economics (ICABE 2017) was held at the UNWE. The 13th consecutive edition of the Forum whose host was UNWE had been organized by the Transylvania University of Brasov, Romania – Center of Excellence Jean Monnet, International Strategic Management Association (ISMA), University of Paris X Nanterre, University of Latvia and the Rostov State University of Economics in cooperation with a number of other European and American Universities in addition to a number of International Journals supporting the conference. In the event participate representatives of universities from 16 countries – Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom, Latvia, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. They delivered reports and discuss on the Structural and Financial Deficiencies in the EU: Strategies moving forward.

At the opening of the Conference attended Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of UNWE, Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector of UNWE, Prof. El Thalassinos, Chair of  ICABE and Chair of Jean Monnet, University of Piraeus, Greece, Prof. Andy Pusca, Rector of Danubius University of Galati, Romania.

Prof. Stattev expressed his contentment with the wide international participation of famous scientists, university rectors and vice rectors in the Forum and greeted the guests. He presented the UNWE as the eldest, most authoritative and the largest higher economic school in Bulgaria and South Eastern Europe having nearly 22 000 students studying in various professional fields and specialities. The Rector pointed out that the university Wall of Fame contains the names of lecturers and alumni of UNWE in the government elite of Bulgaria. He specified that the Ministers-alumni of UNWE over the years had been more than 100 and nine of the current Ministers had also graduated from the UNWE or work as lecturers at the higher school.

Prof. Stattev outlined the importance of the Forum topic and emphasized that the solvation of issue about the future of Europe after Brexit depends on the scientists not on the politicians. The Rector expressed his confidence that the Forum would contribute to the beneficial scientific and practical-applied collaboration at international level.  

 

During the Forum

The Conference will help to create a network of common research interests, to share different experiences with Europeanization and to identify and discuss the variables that have a decisive influence on the European path of the states, pointed out Prof. Lleana Tache from the Transylvania University of Brasov, Romania, Coordinator of the Center of Excellence Jean Monnet.

The importance of the Forum comes out by the crisis in Europe, outlined Prof. Ramona Rupeika-Apoga, Head of the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics at the University of Latvia. She expressed her conviction that the Old Continent had always overcome the crises transforming them into a path to the progress. We need to have a courage and determination to solve the issues of structural policy and implement the necessary changes and reforms in the name of future success of the European projects, pointed out Prof. Apoga (in the picture below).

 

 

The Rector of Danubius University Prof. Andy Pusca expressed his thankfulness for the longstanding cooperation. He showed a brief presentation about the activity of the university managed by him.

Prof. Natalia Vovchenko, Vice Rector of Rostov State University of Economics, Prof. Magdalena Mihai, Vice Rector of University of Craiova and Prof. Ibish Mazreku, Vice Rector of University Haxhi Zeka in Peja, Republic of Kosovo also presented their universities.

The work of the three days Conference was organized in plenary sessions on the following main topics: European Economic Integration in South Eastern Europe, Innovations and Competitiveness, Accounting and Finance, Business and Economics, International Finance, European Economic Growth, etc.

Articles presented in the conference will be evaluated on a very fast process for publication in one of the 9 journals supporting the conference indexed in international data bases (Scopus, REPEC, Research gate, SSRN, etc).

The next edition of the International Conference on Applied Business and Economics (ICABE 2018) will take place in Bali, Indonesia in March 2018.
