The implementation of the project for a new educational building will contribute to greater academic importance of UNWE and will increase its capacity with less than 20 %, pointed out Prof. Stattev. The Rector outlined that the total floor area of current university building is about 40 000 square meters but the UNWE has more than 20 000 students – 16 500 Bachelor students and about 5 000 Master students that makes the demand of new building absolutely substantial. The academic process begins at 7.15 a.m. on Monday and ends at 9.00 p.m. on Sunday, pointed out Prof. Stattev and expressed his hope that the new building would allow the academic process to begin at 8.30 a.m. - one of his dreams as a Rector.

During the Press-Conference

Prof. Stattev specified that on the ground level of the new building there would have also two test centers - 280 seats each. The Rector outlined the UNWE as the first university in the country where a test center had been built 10 years ago. It had been used for the electronic prospective student examinations and a year later for the electronic examinations of the first and second year students. The new two test centers will meet the demands of Faculties and Departments as well as the demands of other institutions in contractual relations with the UNWE, pointed out Prof. Stattev.

The Rector is presenting the opportunities of academic process in the new building.

Prof. Stattev reminded that the new 5 floors building would have total floor area of 8 518 square meters, four aulas - 250 seats each, four halls - 120 seats each, four halls - 80 seats each and four halls - 40 seats each, 19 lecturer rooms, student canteen - 100 seats, underground car park.

Through the implementation of the project two major purposes will be achieved: reduction of energy consumption and decrease of pollutant emissions, commented Alexander Georgiev. The Head of the project assured that the terms of implementation had been observed so the work should end in compliance with the requirements of the Operative Programme Regions in Growth.

The improvement of the educational environment quality is one of the major project topics, outlined Lyubomir Galchev. According to his words the new building will contribute to greater competitiveness of the university.
