Students with their coaches

In 2017 the team was supported by the UNWE as well as by the International Legal Advice Center (ILAC), organization having lots of projects and trainings in the field of European Law, Intellectual Property Law, personal data protection, innovations and mediation.

The CEEMC is a simulation of legal proceedings to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg and in it take part teams from prestigious universities in Central and East Europe. It is held in the English language and the teams have to solve a case and answer six questions at predefined regulations and case-law. Each team should prepare in advance a written legal defence as applicant and as defendant. A month after the preparation of memorandums the students compete through pleadings in a simulative lawsuit to the ECJ. Members of the Court Formations are one of the most evident practitioners and scientists in the field of European Law – judges, advocates-general and referends from the ECJ, lecturers, partners from international law companies, etc.

The UNWE team

In the final ranking the UNWE team won the 9th place. They had difficult cases during the Competition. In the first round they compete against the Warsaw University team and won a victory over it by 10 points and in the second round they were defeated by the Moscow State University. Chairman of the Court Formation in the first round was Mihal Bobek from the Czech Republic and in the second round – Advocate-General Elinor Sharlston from the UK, President of CEEMC. The total score of our team for both rounds was 141.5, 14.5 points for their written defence. Our students needed only 0.75 points more to rank for the semi-finals but in spite of that our young jurists won congratulations for their good performance by the judges and competitors.
