Public Lecture by H. E. Shin Boonam, Ambassador of The Republic of Korea to Bulgaria

H. E. Shin Boonam, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bulgaria delivered at the university a public lecture on the Secret of the Korean Prosperity. At the event organized by the International Relations and Business Department attended Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoychev, Head of the Department, Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Bistra Boeva, Professor Emeritus of UNWE, lecturers and students.

This meeting will reveal important details about the Korean economy and diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Bulgaria, outlined Prof. Boeva. I hope it will give ideas to think about and will be fruitful.

Thanks to Assoc. Prof. Stoychev and Prof. Boeva for the opportunity to deliver my lecture at the most prestigious Bulgarian university, emphasized H. E. Boonam. The Ambassador commented on the situation in the Asian region, relations between Seoul and Phenian, sanctions against North Korea by the UN Security Council.

H. E. Shin Boonam

The Ambassador examined in chronological order the diplomatic relations between Korea and Bulgaria which led to development of various fields as the political life, trade and investment, science and technology, education culture, etc.

In his presentation H. E. Shin Boonam analyzed in a historical plan the Korean economy development and emphasized on its miraculous growth. Korea is a leader in the information technologies and its major industrial branches are the electronics, car manufacture, shipbuilding, petroleum refining, steal manufacture, etc.

During the public lecture

The guest pointed out that his country is a leader in the ranking for innovative economies occupying the first place for the intensity of R&D, added value of manufacture and patent activity. Korea is in Top 5 for the density of high technologies as well as for the effectiveness of higher education focused on the development of creativity in the business and investment in the science, education and technologies. It is namely the secret of Korean prosperity, said explicitly the Ambassador.
