In Paris was held the 38th edition of The Five Balls Tournament organized by the prestigious business school ESSEC. In it took part universities from ten countries of Europe, Africa and Asia and their basketball, handball, volleyball, football and rugby teams. The UNWE was represented by its basketball teams which won the first place among men and the second place among women in the Tournament.

Our winners

The UNWE female team and their coach Lect. Dr. Ventsislav Yordanov exchanged a victory with the strong Belgium team of ULM and played unappealingly against the girls from the American College for the Middle East – Kuwait. Our girls were ranked for the final matches and played against the team of ULM again. After a challenging game our girls were defeated by the Belgium girls and the UNWE female team occupied the second place in the Tournament.

The girls

The UNWE male team was defeated in the preliminary groups by the strong team of Sergi which competes for the elite French League. In the semi-final matches our boys won a firm victory over the German team.

During the crucial final match

In the final match the UNWE male team and its coach Larisa Kasabova played against the team of Sergi again. Our boys defeated firmly the hosts of Sergi with difference of 14 scores due mostly to the team game and excellent play of Dian Abrashev and Matey Mitev as well as to the traditionally strong play of Ventsislav Manuilov and the rest players. Our victory was determined as a triumph of the collective spirit.
