Public lecture on the Non-Profit Organizations and Formation of Highly Effective Teams was delivered by Slava Krasteva, Human Resources and Administration Manager, For Our Children Foundation. The event was organized jointly with the Public Administration Department and the Foundation and it was held in the Small Conference Hall. At the lecture attended Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Valkov, Head of the Public Administration Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Denitsa Gorchilova, Scientific Secretary of the Department, students and guests.

The attendees had the opportunity to know about the Foundation work and objectives. It provides professional social services for the most vulnerable children at their early age through encouraging the permanent, trustworthy and developing family relations. At the Foundation work 60 highly qualified specialists and for 23 years it has supported more than 8000 people in need, pointed out Slava Krasteva. The lecturer explained about the way of receiving the aid and care provided by the non-governmental organization. According to her words the poverty and lack of support are the major factors that make people to abandon their children. “We strive for reducing their number”, outlined Krasteva.

Students

The Manager examined the Foundation philosophy whose major value had been the people working in it and their permanent professional development had been the way for achieving the objectives. Krasteva determined also the tasks that the non-governmental organization had faced: providing a larger number and volume of qualitative social services for children and their families, achieving a higher level of organizational management.

During the lecture

Slava Krasteva showed a model of organizational development – from the business grounds to the corporative culture. According to her each large organization should be well structured for working successfully. “Striving for higher quality should be a daily process”, added the lecturer.

The attendees were divided in three groups and each of them was given a practical task.
