Round Table Conference on The Municipal Security – Challenge of Time

Round Table Conference on the Municipal Security – Challenge of Time was held in the Large Conference Hall of the university. The Forum was organized by the National Association “Savior”, UNWE National and Regional Security Department, Dolna Mitropolia Municipality, Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAS), Information and Security Management Association. The Conference was focused on various aspects of security as well as on municipal responsibility for creating the necessary organization including also in cases of disasters.

During the Forum

At our Department for several years we do research in the field of municipal security related to the criminality, security indicators and disaster damage assessment, pointed out the host of the Forum Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Dean of the Economics of Infrastructure Faculty, Director of the Center for Nuclear Security Support and Head of the National and Regional Security Department. He presented the full scheme of Relations for Coordination and Management of Chief Commissar Nikolay Nikolov and outlined that the municipalities should have the rights and responsibilities to provide security. It is not occasional but indicative that in the Conference Hall there are so many responsible representatives, various specialists including also students in their third and fourth year which means that there is a great interest in the discussed topic, outlined Prof. Dimitrov.

The moderator of the Round Table Conference Col. Rumyan Rysev, expert in extremism and terrorism presented the participants: Prof. Maria Slavova, Secretary of Science Department at the Bulgarian Academy of Science and Art (BASA), Prof. Hristo Tsakov, Director of the Forest Research Institute at BAS, Assoc. Prof. Stoyan Tanev from the Institute of Space Research and Technology at BAS, Dr. Dimitar Baturov from the Military Medical Academy, judge Nikolay Angelov from the Administrative Court Sofia City, representatives of the National Volunteers Association, Dolna Mitropolia Municipality, etc.

The participants in the Round Table Conference commented on the municipal security in relation to the tragic incident in the village of Hitrino. It was emphasized on the important role of municipality and the urgent first aid which should be rendered there in that hard situation.
