Public Lecture by H. E. Alberto Trueba, Ambassador of Argentina to Bulgaria

H. E. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to Bulgaria delivered a lecture on the Argentina and the World: Present and Perspectives.  

The event in the Ceremonial Hall was opened by Prof. Dr. Daniela Koh-Kozhuharova, Head of the Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics Department who informed that in a preliminary meeting the Ambassador and Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector for the Scientific Research Activity had discussed the opportunities of cooperation between the UNWE and universities in Argentina. Prof. Kozhuharova emphasized on the rich biography of the guest and outlined the important positions he had occupied as well as the numerous awards honoured to him.

H. E. Trueba expressed his thankfulness for the invitation and outlined that it had been an honour for him to deliver lecture to academic community of UNWE. In his expose he examined the close bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Argentina as well as the important contribution of the Bulgarian community to the Argentinian one.

In the Ceremonial Hall

The Ambassador featured the role of Argentina at regional and world level. He reminded that 200 years ago the independence of the Kingdom of Spain had been proclaimed and emphasized on the importance of that historical event. He specified the challenges of the modern world and spoke about the national interest of the country, supporting points of the policy implemented by the government as he outlined the major priorities: the national unification, fight against drug traffic and overwhelming the poverty.

During the public lecture

The second largest country in the South America (after Brazil) has a rich culture and history, outlined the Ambassador. He commented also the state of economy, natural resources, energy, transport, education, etc.

The voice of Argentina goes a long way in the world, we are proud of our country, declared H. E. Trueba. The Ambassador added that the Argentinians had been proud of the football, tango as well as the Nobel Prize holders: Carlos Saavedra Lamas (1936) and Adolfo Pérez Esquivel – Nobel Peace Prize, Luis Federico Leloir – Nobel Prize in Chemistry (1970), Bernardo Houssay (1947) and César Milstein (1984) – Nobel Prize in Medicine.  

H. E. Alberto Trueba

Ambassador Trueba was born in Buenos Ayres in 1958 and he is a jurist. In 1988 he has also graduated from the Diplomatic School. He is a Knight of the French Legion of Honour, Commander of the Order of Malta and the Order of Isabella the Catholic. Besides his native Spanish language he has a good command of English and Italian language and also uses French language in his work.
