Paper Submission Guide

SUBMISSION

Each participant can be the main author of one paper and the co-author of a maximum of one other paper.

The application and the paper abstract (up to 300 words) should be submitted in the section Application on this web page.

The full paper should be sent in electronic form to [email protected].

PAPER FORMATTING

The Organizing Committee recommends the following template for formatting the full paper.

Word Document and General Paper Information

1. All papers must be in Microsoft® Word (.doc or .docx). Margins must be set at 2.5 cm from top, bottom, and sides (A4-size).

2. Papers should be no longer than 10 pages including references, figures, tables, and appendices. Papers should be as concise as the subject and research method permit.

3. Papers should be written in standard English.

4. The Organizing Committee encourages use of gender-neutral language.

5. Please, be aware that papers in a technically unsuitable form will be returned for retyping (re-formatting).

Abstract, Keywords and Paper Text Page

The first page of the paper should contain the following information in the same consecutive order: title, first name and family name of the author (and co-authors), an abstract, keywords, and JEL code(s). The text of the paper starts below the JEL code(s). It is preferable that the submitted text consists of an introduction, discussion of the relevant literature, explanation of the methodology, data use and sources, description of the results, and a conclusion.

General Formatting

Pagination. All pages, including references and appendices, are to be serially numbered.

Numbers. Spell out numbers from one to ten, except when used in tables and lists, and when used with mathematical, statistical, scientific, or technical units and quantities, such as distances, weights and measures. For example: three days; 3 kilometers; 30 years. All other numbers are expressed numerically.

Percentages. In nontechnical copy use the word percent in the text, e.g., “We find that approximately 28 percent of the sample has a new CEO.”; in tables and figures, the symbol % is used, e.g., 28%.

Mathematical Notation. Mathematical notation should be employed only where its rigor and precision are necessary, and in such circumstances authors should explain the principal operations performed in narrative format. Notation should be avoided in footnotes. Use standard mathematical notation and symbols.

Equations. Equations should be consecutively numbered in parentheses flush with the right-hand margin.

Footnotes. Footnotes are not used for documentation (citations). Textual footnotes should be used only for extensions and useful excursions of information that, if included in the body of the text, might disrupt its continuity. Footnotes must be inserted using the “Footnote” feature in Microsoft® Word. Footnote callouts are to be formatted as Arabic numerals.

Tables and Figures. Tables/figures appear in the paper as close to the first mention of the table/figure as possible. A reference of each table/figure must be made in the text.
For the figures (graphics) – use an Arabic number and a complete title (under the figure).
For the tables – use an Arabic number and a complete title (above the table). The source of the data in the table should be indicated under the table.

CITATIONS AND REFERENCES

Use the APA (American Psychological Association) in-text and reference list citations. Easy to use APA Format Citation Guide is available at https://www.mendeley.com/guides/apa-citation-guide.

Citations
In-text citations are made using an author-date format. Cited works must correspond to the works listed in the “References” section. Authors should make an effort to include the relevant page numbers in the in-text citations.

Reference List
Every paper must include a “References” section that contains only those works cited within the text. Each entry should contain all information necessary for unambiguous identification of the published work.

The sources in non-Latin script (e.g., Cyrillic, Greek, etc.) must be transliterated (that is, converted to the alphabet you are using to write a paper), and then followed by an English translation, in brackets. Example: Najm, Y. (1966). Al-qissah fi al-adab Al-Arabi al-hadith [The novel in modern Arabic literature]. Beirut: Dar Al-Thaqafah.

By submitting their papers in the 15th International Conference of ASECU, authors transfer the copyrights on their papers to the University of National and World Economy. Authors may use freely figures or tables of their published papers without prior consent of the UNWE provided that the official proceedings of the 15th International Conference of ASECU is mentioned as the original source of publication.
